Los Vascos: Cromas Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva 2018
The cabernet sauvignon for the Grande Reserve is sourced from selected plots planted on the foothills of the mountains, as well as some of the older vines from the best plots in the heart of the estate. 2018 offered optimal weather conditions. The season started with average rainfall in winter and spring, which provided favorable conditions for bud break and fruit onset. Summer temperatures remained slightly below average, which allowed grapes to ripen slowly. This factor, combined with a great after season with no precipitation, was determining the harvest timing that started rather late once the grapes had developed fully and reached optimal phenolic ripeness.
Notes: Intense ruby-red color with glints of garnet. Initially, the nose presents scents of fresh strawberry, red cherry, gooseberry and blue flowers, followed by subtle notes of sea, tobacco, caramel and graphite. On the palate, the wine is generous with soft, yet lively tannins, leading into a long, lingering finish.

Marina Cveti
Fruit of pure Montepulciano grapes harvested from a single vineyard in Controguerra (province of Teramo), this wine tells with its dark ruby red color tones, velvety softness and intense aromas of ripe red fruit, one of the most interesting terroirs of the entire Abruzzo region. This gentle slope at 250 mt above sea level and about 12 km far from the Adriatic Sea enjoys a full Mediterranean climate. The manual harvest, carried out in the first half of October, is followed by the fermentation in steel tanks at controlled temperature and a first 12-month aging in French oak barrels. Afterwards, at least 24 months of aging in the bottle follows. Dense and full-bodied, it has vivid notes of blackberries, plums, blueberries, and black currant. Perfect match for roast lamb and stewed meat or for rich and spicy Asian foods. This wine is among the Marina Cvetic line of wines, which Gianni created for his wife. This lovely wine pairs beautifully with stews, cured meats, and a variety of cheeses and entrees.

Detroit City Distillery, an independent craft distiller of small-batch artisanal spirits, will bring back its limited-edition spirit, Summer Rum, made in collaboration with some of Detroit’s best bartenders. As the name suggests, Summer Rum is only available for the summer and will be available from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend at the Distillery, local bars and liquor stores.
“Everyone in the bar industry is anticipating the return of The Roaring Twenties and expecting a summer for the ages. When we made Summer Rum in collaboration with some of our favorite bartenders, we called it ‘Detroit’s industry love letter to rum.’ This year, that message has new meaning, because we all survived one hell of a year. Summer Rum is a blend of rums from Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Guyana and the U.S. Virgin Islands and is distilled from sugar cane. The nose is full of Jamaican aromatics with ripe banana, pineapple and clove. The light rose gold body has a creamy mouthfeel full of Caribbean fruit notes like papaya, guava, mangos and coconut.
