Who doesn’t love a good tasting dinner with exquisite wines, fabulous stories and great people.
Rombauer Vineyards came to New York City this Spring and I was super excited to go to their AMAZING dinner held at Butter, made famous by Gossip Girl.
Once I arrived, we were greeted out on the patio with a glass of their Sauvignon Blanc. That’s where I met Bob Knebel, the CEO of Rombauer Vineyards. I learned pretty about the brands and his backstory about his journey from working in the airline industry to becoming the CEO of a well-respected vineyard. It was truly fascinating!
We headed inside to the table once we were ready for the main event, food and wine! The winemaker Richie Allen and Bob, who I met earlier, discuss s the brand and the family behind it and also, how loyal their customers are.
After our formal introduction to the brand, our group first tried some amazing Chardonnay and Merlot from Rombauer as we had delightful Parkerhouse Rolls with a selection of house-made butter. We also paired up with them our first course, which for me it was roasted baby rainbow carrots with marinated dates, harissa, and feta. The combination of the wine and food was amazing.
For dinner, I had a lovely Sorrento lemon risotto that we paired up with their new 2021 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir. Truly exquisite! Bob and Richie explained how Pinot Noir was a long requested wine from their fan base and how they secretly created it after many years. I can say, it’s truly worth the wait.
Of course, we had to have dessert. And this dessert was truly special. It was Butter’s deeply delicious Raspberry Beignet with vanilla dipping sauce and Rombauer’s Cabernet Sauvignon.
Rombauer truly has an excellent collection of wine. The night was a magical experience for the senses and I can totally see why they have quite the following.
