Every year the Germany press conference takes place a some of NYC’s best restaurants. This year I joined a few VIPs at Blackbarn Restaurant, on March 15, 2023 to learn more about the wonderful sights and scenes that Germany has to offer.
As we got there we enjoyed a nice glass of Robert Weil Kiedricher Riesling, 2021 and mingled with guests. Once we sat we enjoyed Wild Mushroom Toast, Spinach Salad & Olive Oil-Braised Octopus. Once started to eat, the presentation on the different areas of Germany began.
Our lively audience learned more about the GNTO offices and the different flights out to Germany. Once the basics were out of the way, our speakers focused on every wonderful thing Germany has to offer like the vast amount of nature there like the 104 nature parks and how green their cities are. That night I learned Germany how accessible the country is for people with disabilities.
Once the presentation was done, we dined in style, family style. We had House-Made Orecchiette with broccoli rabe, white beans, chili flakes Pan Seared Arctic Char with baby artichokes, serrano bean puree, lemon beurre blanc, chives & Roast Rack of Lamb with cavatelli, zucchini, tomato, olive, rosemary. Each item was so good!
Then for dessert, we had cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake and fruit.
During this time we met some representatives from the consulate and the German press office to get their first-hand experiences. After this lovely dinner, I hope I can visit Germany in the near future!
