Before the summer ends, you must go to Demarchelier Bistro on the North Fork for a French-inspired elegance that can be found at the renowned Greenport restaurant.
In the heart of the village, exquisite offerings of French cuisine are served up at the Family owned and operated establishment that showcases a menu of rich cultural expressions.
Demarchelier Bistro highlights a casual environment balanced with artistic Parisian design. From marble top tables and an antique bar top, to the outdoor seating and colorful paintings by the owner’s father – famed artist Eric Demarchelier – on the wall, the atmosphere of Demarchelier makes it the perfect sojourn in the East End for a quick bite to eat, a romantic rendezvous or a nice meal with your family and friends.
When my friend and I got there we both ordered from the cocktail menu. I had the restaurant’s take on a Moscow Mule and Le Normand, which contains vodka, Le Pere Pommeau. Delish!
We both tried different appetizers. I got the tuna tartar that came with cucumbers and tomatoes. It was so fresh! My friend received a plate of manchego and brie cheese with jam, which was equally delicious.
For our main course, I had the Monkfish in lobster sauce special. I never had monkfish before but enjoyed it tremendously, especially since it’s pretty similar to lobster. My friend had the roast salmon over lentils, which I thought of having.
We both shared polenta cakes with mushrooms and truffle. My friend and I reminisced about how we loved polenta and when we had it last. It was so good.
For dessert, oh you know when needed to have dessert, we had île flottante and the classic go-to, Creme Brule. You can’t go wrong with either!
Demarchelier Bistro offers French café classics such as Steak Tartare, Duck Confit, Salad Nicoise Classic, Pomme Dauphine, and the Quiche of the Day. Additionally, there is a $39 pre-fix menu available Monday through Thursday between 4:00pm and 6:00pm.
Additionally, the restaurant will host an art exhibit where Eric Demarchelier will be displaying his latest work. The exciting show is a tribute to his late brother and photographer, Patrick Demarchelier. Eric’s recent collection of paintings are based on Patrick’s photographs which will be displayed side by side.
To visit Demarchelier Bistro is to take the best of both worlds and blend them together to create one incredible restaurant experience.
