SOL Mexican Cocina just opened its first New York location, steps from Madison Square Park. On Thursday, May 18 , I was one of the first to see and taste the restaurant’s popular Baja-SoCal fare with passed hors d’oeuvres, tacos, and tequila + mezcal tastings by the company’s brand partners, all while enjoying live entertainment of a band.
At the door, there was an ice luge and a woman engraving shot glasses to try the Dos Hombres tequila with. After I tried some I tried some of the hors d’oeuvres that were passed around. I had ceviche in a cucumber, a rolled-up quesadilla, and street corn. Each appetizer was super delicious. I paired it up with a blackberry margarita.
A portion of the cocktail sales from the evening benefits the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, a non-profit focusing its efforts on the issues of hunger and homelessness in the US.
I am looking forward to coming back to SOL Mexican Cocina one of these nights for a meal and a few cocktails.
