This year I did something I’ve never done before. It was to train for a half marathon. Not only was it intensive but a learning experience.
I never dreamed of doing one but a friend wanted me to train with her to do the NYC Half Marathon. She deferred from a previous year but the universe granted me entry through the lottery.
On day one of training, I sprained my ankle. Not ideal. After a week and half off (and purchasing a compression sleeve) I started training again with my friend.
The more we trained together, to more we got to know each other. Also she took me on some amazing routes in the Bronx.
When it came to actual half, we ran it together. She pushed me so hard but it was good. We ran into a few friends from our run group. Also, I just found the FDR boring to run but when we hit the UN it got interesting since we ran by Grand Central the up Times Square to Columbus Circle to Central Park South.
As I entered the park, I saw my Pints & Pavements family. Then two friends from the group assisted me until I found my parents.
I’m happy I crossed the finish line. It was totally worth it.
what do you think?
