Rosemary’s Pizza is now Open!

Restaurateur Carlos Suarez and chef Wade Moises open Rosemary’s Pizza, a stylish pizzeria at the bustling corner of Perry Street and Greenwich Avenue. Open daily for dinner and drinks, with lunch, brunch and takeout to follow, Rosemary’s Pizza is an intimate, convivial addition to the Casa Nela family, joining its sister restaurants Rosemary’s, Bobo and Claudette in the heart of the Village.

Chef Moises of Rosemary’s uses a flour blend from New York’s Wild Hive Mills and a sourdough starter made from local grapes to form the dough for his Neapolitan-inspired pizzas, all fired in a wood-burning oven, a centerpiece of the restaurant. Pies are topped with ingredients ranging from guanciale, fennel and burnt orange, to clams, lemon and pickled chili, to fontina, apple and lion’s mane and oyster mushrooms. Salads round out the menu and feature ingredients sourced from Rosemary’s Farm in the Hudson Valley and other local producers. For dessert, affogati, topping vanilla gelato with everything from espresso to amaro borsci liquor and walnuts. Also available are strawberry shortcake and malted chocolate budino, created in partnership with Greenwich Avenue neighbor Mah Ze Dahr bakery.

To drink, a full bar curated by beverage director Rufio Lerma features wines from New York State and Italy, including Rosemary’s Pizza’s own private-label rosé, falanghina and langhe nebbiolo, available by the glass and by the bottle. Italian-inspired cocktails include a grappa-based martini and the Cappelletti Spritz, a bitter Italian aperitivo topped with prosecco. The entire beverage selection can also be enjoyed in the bright and airy bar room, located past the pizza oven, where large windows look out onto Perry Street, vibrantly colored tilework lines the floor and guests can mingle over drinks and spuntini at standing tables and the six-seat bar.

The 60-seat restaurant, designed by Richard H. Lewis Architect and Dekar Design, captures the rustic charm of the Italian countryside, with accents of reclaimed wood, handmade ceramic tile and exposed brick. Guest can enjoy a view of the pizza oven and open kitchen in a lively setting illuminated by windows that open onto the street. This July, seating will expand to a 16-seat sidewalk cafe along Greenwich Avenue.
