EMILY is now open in the West Village 🍕❤️

Shoot me… EMILY, the well-known pizza spot, recently came on my radar when someone mentioned it on day one at my new office. The boss that day actually bought everyone pizza, penne vodka, and salad shortly after and it was quite good. I have to say, I am a fan.

The chef-restaurateur duo Matt and Emily Hyland recently introduced their beloved pizza spot EMILY to the charming West Village corner that formerly housed Blue Ribbon Bakery. The opening marks the third restaurant and first Manhattan location from Pizza Loves Emily, including EMILY in Clinton Hill and Emmy Squared in Williamsburg.

In addition to EMILY classics such as their hot wings and a riff on the Emmy Burger, the West Village menu offers not one, but two styles of pizza that are new to the family. Chef Hyland introduces his Detroit-style Grandma pies, a hybrid pan pizza with a crunchy cheese crust and crispy bottom, along with a small menu of round pies inspired by traditional New York and New Haven styles prepared in an 18-foot-deep wood-burning pizza oven. The menu also includes small plates such as Oki Broccoli and Loaded Curly Fries, an array of salads and new sandwiches including Pressed Duck and the Lammy Burger.

Guests can choose from a variety of wines by the glass from EMILY’s cellar, along with a range of house cocktails such as Jimmy’s #1 with gin, Pimm’s, fruit and Lambrusco, and Ghost Train with mezcal, ginger liqueur, lime, and grapefruit. Local beers are featured on tap, by the can or glass.

Nestled on their picturesque West Village corner, the Hylands make guests feel right at home at EMILY, greeting locals and visitors with their signature neon sign in the window. Inside, art by the EMILY team adorns the brick walls of the bi-level space, while white subway tiles and reclaimed wood flooring are reminiscent of the Clinton Hill location. The sunlit upstairs dining room features a bar and wraparound windows perfect for people-watching, while the downstairs dining room is a cozy hideaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The lower level also houses the century-old oven, where chef Hyland can be spotted stoking the flames for a perfectly charred pizza.
